Bebe Rexha gave an update to her fans on the injuries she sustained after a video captured the moment she was hit in the head by a fan’s phone during a recent concert in New York.

The 33-year-old singer was performing at The Rooftop at Pier 17 when the incident occurred, and the 27-year-old male responsible has been charged with assault. Rexha took to Instagram to share two selfies of her black eye and the medical tape across her left eyebrow, explaining she had received three stitches.

A fan-filmed video of the singer being hit by the phone spread across social media, showing Rexha at the front of the stage before she drops to her knees and a crew rushes in to help her. Fellow concertgoers shared videos and words of support, while condemning the act. This was only the latest incident in a string of artists being injured by projectiles during performances.
Just last year, Harry Styles was hit directly in the eye by a Skittles sweet during a performance, and continued on with the show, though visibly squinting. Later in November, Styles was hit in the crotch with a water bottle by a fan. As a result of these unfortunate occurrences, fans should remember to respect artists, not only in order to provide a pleasant experience, but to protect their safety as well.
